Ashland boasts 20 parks within city limits and the city’s gem is Lithia Park, designed by John McLaren (also designer of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park) with over 93 acres to explore, Ashland Creek, many trails, two duck ponds, a large bandshell area for musical events, picnic areas, Japanese garden, marble water fountain, pickleball courts, playground, and a winter ice skating rink.
Ashland is perhaps best known for its large, diverse and talented theatre community which has been entertaining the masses at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Southern Oregon University, and other local venues for over 90 years.
